For a mere $2,800 he’s the very proud owner of a 2nd-gen Camaro. Hooray affordable classics! And it even has Cragars!

How many patches of freshly dug dirt are there in his yard?

THIS... its better to dream about stuff you can get your hands on.
“cragars look good on anything” or was that “cragars make anything look good”?
looks to be a solid starting point.

Nice. I’m a second gen fan myself, have had two of them.
Probably one of the best forums out there if he already isn’t a member is
www.nastyz28.com
. There is a ton of info there, not to mention incredibly knowledgeable members.

He is most welcome to the club, but personally I find it a little odd that the car runs down the road without having to work on it for multiple years.

nastyz28 really is the best place for 2nd gen knowledge. Between the forums and all of the codes and numbers they list they have it all.

Cragars are great on 70's cars. Its got some rust here and there but the rockers are solid and like you said, its a good starting point.

I’m sure he already knows this, but if he’s going OEM, the best places I’ve found for parts are Year One and Classic Industries.
And if his doors are heavy or sagging, he’ll want to pick up some new door hinges. They aren’t exactly cheap, but they make a HUGE difference. These doors are insanely heavy (for a door), and it seems like pretty much every late second gen has sagging doors.
Oh, and another thing, be sure the windows are seated properly and actually stop when they're supposed to. I learned from experience with closing the door in my 81 (when I had it) and it hit the roof and rained down on me in a million pieces.

those cars original weigh a lot. and the doors sag(heavy). but there is SO much that can be done for them. so much potential with what you got there.

Damn, that’s a bargain! You’re making me feel like I overpaid for my third gen now.
